The embroidery technique used on this bag descends from the imperial textile workshops of the Tang and Song. Gold-wrapped silk thread, built up in successive layers, three-dimensional under the light. It is worked by hand into full-grain cowhide.
Designed to carry through every day life. To work, to events, and through errands.
Beautiful enough to turn heads, sturdy enough to never think twice about it.
Hand Embroidered by Master Hua Ziyan (age 78)
Master Hua Ziyan is a perfectionist who enjoys her craft so much that she refuses to retire. And her skills shine through the magnificence of her embroidery. On leather, every needle puncture is permanent. There is no undo.
Premium Gold Hardware by Master Zhou Mingyue (age 56)
Master Zhou is a metalsmith who practices the art of huí wén (回纹) meander. A technique that folds back the metal back on itself forever, a Chinese symbol of continuity and things that don't end. She is also the one who engraves your bag's serial number into the metal.
Leatherwork by Master Lu Zhenhua (age 71)
Master Lu builds every bag from the inside out, and he's obsessive about the parts you will never see. The hidden frame. The seams under the lining. It's the reason this bag carries like one costing several times more. And the reason this bag will outlast all of them.
Designed For Daily Life by Vivienne Lin (age 43)
Some bags only "work" with the right outfit, the right occasion. But our designer, Vivienne Lin, drew the Queen Peony to look at home specifically in your hands; with the clothes you already own and the life you actually lead.

The embroidery is absolutely stunning. It also goes with absolutely everything, which I didn't expect from something this striking. Jeans and a white shirt, my work blazer, the one black dress I own... the black leather makes the peony do all the talking, so I never have to "dress around it."

Built on the same iconic peony motif that has graced Chinese art, silk, and imperial decoration for over a thousand years, this Tang Red 25 Embroidered Queen Peony Tote takes the embroidery into a new register entirely. Where the shoulder bag whispers, this one speaks. Structured, substantial, and unapologetically bold; it is a bag that walks into a room and changes the atmosphere of it.
The Motif — 牡丹 (Mǔdān)
The peony has been China's most celebrated flower since the Tang dynasty (618–907 CE), making it a symbol of nobility, grace, wealth, and feminine power that has outlasted every empire it has adorned. Classical poets compared it to the Goddess of the Luo River. Emperors cultivated it in palace gardens. The Shijing, China's oldest anthology of verse, reached for it when searching for words adequate to extraordinary beauty.
On this bag, the peony is rendered in antique gold and amber tones against deep black full-grain cowhide: a combination that reads less like decoration and more like a statement. The embroidery is high-relief cowhide work, each petal layered over the last in metallic silk thread, three-dimensional and alive with depth. In different light, it reveals different things: pale gold in shadow, burnished amber in sun.
The Embroidery Craft
Embroidering onto leather is not the same as embroidering onto fabric. Fabric forgives. Leather does not. Every needle puncture is permanent, every stitch irreversible. The craftspeople who work on this bag make no mistakes they can undo.
The metallic silk thread used for the embroidery descends from a technique refined in Tang and Song imperial textile workshops: gold-wrapped thread built up in successive layers to create relief, shadow, and a surface that catches light the way lacquerware does. The result shifts with every movement, every change of light, every room you walk into.

What This Bag Is Really For
This is a full-day bag. iPad Mini, phone, wallet, sunglasses, the small necessities of a life fully lived; all of it fits, organised, close. It moves from desk to dinner without effort or apology.
But it is also more than that. The Queen Peony Tote is for the woman who has stopped letting her bag be an afterthought. Who understands that the objects she chooses to carry are a form of self-expression: that heritage is not something you hang on a wall, but something you bring with you, into every meeting, every celebration, every ordinary Tuesday that deserves to feel extraordinary.

Tang Heritage began with a single vision: to bring the beauty of the East to the West. We make for the woman who appreciates beauty beyond her own corner of the world.
Behind every bag is a community of artisans. Far more than we could ever name on one page. Embroiderers, leather masters, metalsmiths, designers, and many hands beyond them, most of whom have spent the better part of their lives perfecting a single craft. They are not a production line. They are deeply passionate people, and they are genuinely proud to send their life's work out into the world.
We want to show you everything they're capable of. But true craft can't be hurried. Almost every Tang Heritage bag is made by hand, in small batches.
This means what we can offer is limited by what our artisans can create, and the pieces people love most often sell out quickly.
If there's a design that's sold out and your heart is set on it, please tell us. We keep a list, and we'll do our very best for the people who truly appreciate our craft.
