This lamp a piece of Suzhou embroidery that happens to cast light. Modelled after the classical Chinese palace lantern, this Suzhou Embroidery Palace Silk Lamp houses four hand-embroidered silk panels within a solid wood frame, each face carrying its own scene rendered entirely by hand in pure silk thread. A piece that belongs equally to a contemporary interior and to a 2,500-year tradition.
The Embroidery
Each panel is worked in the tradition of Su Xiu (苏绣), Suzhou silk embroidery, one of the oldest and most technically demanding forms of Chinese textile art. Silk threads are colour-matched by hand and placed with a richness of needle technique that produces fine gradations of tone, depth, and texture impossible to achieve by machine.
The four embroidered faces each carry a distinct scene: birds among seasonal blossoms, lotus on still water, panda amid bamboo, flora in full bloom. To turn this piece slowly in your hands is to move through four distinct moments, four expressions of the same ancient craft, each complete in its own right.
A Note on Handcraft
Every piece in this collection is embroidered entirely by hand. Silk threads are selected, colour-matched, and placed stitch by stitch by the artisan, not a machine, not a template. As a result, each finished piece carries its own natural character: subtle variations in colour tone, stitch placement, and compositional detail are inherent to the process.
The piece you receive may differ slightly from the product images shown. No two pieces from this collection will be identical, and none are intended to be. This is not a flaw. It is the nature of genuine handcraft, and the quality that makes each piece singular.
A Note on the Power Plug
This lantern is shipped with a standard plug fitting. As plug standards vary by country, the included plug may not be compatible with your local power outlet. If you are ordering from outside of China, please check your country's plug type before use and have a suitable travel or wall adapter on hand.

What This Piece Is Really For
There are objects you place in a room to fill space. And there are objects a room orients itself around. This lantern is the second kind.
By day, it rests on a console or shelf as an embroidered ornament in the classical tradition, a still, self-contained thing that rewards the longer you look at it. By night, lit from within, it becomes a different object entirely: warm, luminous, alive with a light that passes through two thousand years of silk craft before it reaches the room.
Guests will ask about it. What you tell them, about the craft, the artisans, the tradition it carries, is a story worth knowing. Tang Heritage exists so that story does not disappear.
