Spring Love Jade Butterfly Hairpin

The butterfly (蝴蝶) has long stood in Chinese tradition for love, joy, and the renewal of spring, a creature of transformation and lightness. The name 恋春, "in love with spring," captures that feeling. Here a large butterfly spreads its wings in colourful enamel around a body of natural Hetian jade (和田玉), with a small pair of bells swaying below on fine chains.
