Phoenix Hairpin

The phoenix (凤凰) is the most exalted bird in Chinese art, a creature said to appear only in times of peace and good governance. For centuries it was the emblem of the empress herself, and worn in the hair it carried a wish for grace, virtue, and renewal. This hairpin renders the motif in fine relief, its plumage sweeping back into tassels that catch the light with every turn of the head.

Because the pearls and agate are natural, slight differences in tone, size, and marking occur from piece to piece. These are nature's hallmarks, and no two hairpins are exactly alike.

Care

Keep away from water, perfume, and prolonged sunlight. Store in a soft pouch or jewellery box when not in use. Wipe gently with a dry cloth after wear. Pearls are porous, so let perfume and hairspray settle before putting the piece on.
