The brocade textile tradition runs deep in Chinese craft history. From the imperial workshops of the Song dynasty to the weaving ateliers of Nanjing and Suzhou, brocade was the fabric of ceremony: dense with pattern, rich in colour, carrying within its weave a visual language of flowers, scrolls, and auspicious symbols that spoke of status, refinement, and cultural memory.

Mù takes that archive and liberates it. The deep amber ground of this dress is covered in intricate floral scrollwork rendered in black, drawing directly from the vocabulary of classical brocade but translated into something fluid, unstructured, and entirely free. This is not fabric that demands occasion. It is fabric that creates one.

The silhouette is long and relaxed, a full-length spaghetti-strap dress with a gathered bust and sweeping skirt. The hem is finished with black tassel fringe, a detail that nods to the decorative borders of traditional Chinese garments without replicating them. Warm, dramatic, and deeply considered.

THE DESIGN LANGUAGE

The ink wash mountain on Xún belongs to the two-thousand-year tradition of shuǐmò huà (水墨画), where what is left unpainted carries as much meaning as what is not.

The bamboo on Yáo is the motif of the Chinese literati, chosen across centuries not for its beauty but for what it stood for: resilience, elegance, a character that needs no explanation. The scattered florals, the classical brocade, the botanical specimens, the leopard — each one located within a specific cultural moment, brought forward with intention.

The palette across this collection is never accidental. The silhouettes are never arbitrary. The lace trim, the tassel fringe, the contrast piping, the beaded strap: each detail is in conversation with the character of the piece it belongs to.
