In Chinese tradition, a red cord worn on the wrist during one's zodiac year (本命年) is a small, steadfast guardian, believed to keep misfortune at bay and hold good fortune close. For the Year of the Fire Goat, that old custom is tied with a little fine silver goat, its spiralled horn curling proudly and a lucky coin stamped on its side.
